PROTON ISWARA LMST: HOW TO REPLACE GEAR BOX OIL FOR MANUAL TRANSMISSION

Hi, changing gearbox oil is quite an easy work for proton iswara lmst manual transmission.

Usually, we need to replace gearbox oil for every 30000km, this is recommended distance..

However, in my case, I change my gearbox oil for every 2-3 engine oil change depending on how i drive the car.

PARTS:

1)Gearbox oil Castrol GL4 or Penzoil grade 80w-90 (price around RM60 for 4 liter)

TOOLS

1) jack

2) oil drain pan

3) rachet spanar size 24 to release oil drain nut.

4) spanar size 17 for gearbox oil filler nut.

4) adjustable spanar (if require)

5) Oil filling bottle with tube (important to fill the gearbox oil due to small space) need to prepare this before start drain the gearbox oil.

PROCEDURE:

1) park car on the level surface and secure the car to prevent movement when doing the work under the car

2) jack the front of the car to give proper access to drain nut under the car

3) locate the drain nut location (shown in the picture). drain the gear oil by remove screw as shown on the figure. put drain pan under and left for few minutes for gear oil to drain out from gearbox.

4) Clean the drain nut and put a white tape, if necessary, before tighten back the drain nut.

5) Access to gear oil filling is in on the front of gear box. release the nut (nut size 17) covering the filling hole, and fill the gearbox oil until full (full when oil start spill out).

6) Insert oil fill nut back and secure it properly.

7) Test the car by driving around.
