common issue with the fan rotating slow or difficult to rotate was due to the dust build up inside fan of grease started drying. Or sometimes due to the broken or damage capacitor. 2-3 year sold fan usually have this kind of problem due to the capacitor reaching its end of life.

Troubleshoot:
In the Mistral MSF1648 fan case, after several check, it is found that capacitor is damaged (not able to hold enough charge)..Thus lead to slowing down in rotation.

Why Capacitor Problem?:
Usually, after some period of time, capacitor of the fan might not able to store enough electrical charge anymore in order to fan to rotate at optimum level. So, it is good practice to always have spare capacitor at your home just in case your to replace the capacitor of your fan.
Figure 3: Old capacitor valued at 1.5uF 400V |
Whenever service or cleaning work is carry out, we can always check the condition of capacitor or just use common sense. Usually capacitor will not ok after 2-3 years of maximum usage. If yours is already passed 3 years, it is good to replace it. Cost of capacitor is quite cheap, at about RM4-RM6..
Figure 4: Picture after capacitor is replaced. Will require soldering skill or you can used small white connector to connect between two cable. |
When changing capacitor, always take note of old capacitor specification. The value that need to be note are capacitance value in microFarads [uF] and Voltage [V]. Capacitance value should be close to equal to original value, such, you can pick 1.5uF from 1.4uF. Too big value of capacitance will damaged your fans winding.
For Voltage value, you can pick between 400V to 450V..that is the common voltage value for all capacitor.
Servicing the Fan:
Make a habit of cleaning and servicing the internal part whenever you open the cover. remove all the dust, wash the blade, front cover, rear cover and let it dry before installing it back.
Please also take note that, rotational part will have bearing and gear. So, it must be lubricate using proper lubricant. In my case, I use spray grease as shown below.
Figure 5: Toyo grease lubrication |
Bearing, gearing on rotor must all be lubricate, front and rear side..

Once done, can be observe that, speed of the fan increase dramatically. One was due to the new capacitor, secondly due to the clean blade which have less air resistance.

Thank you for visiting my page. hope this help
very nice and simple sir. hats off to you for making the details so simple that even a child can understand.
ReplyDeleteThanks sir for reading.
Deleteyou are clear my mind actually after reading your article i got clear my complete doubt. thanks for such easy understanding post.
