Hi all, has anyone facing the same problem as me..?
Difficult to start the car..sometimes it give tack tack tack sound..sometimes, just empty sound when key is turn..it is quite annoying when you know you have new starter motor, good battery.
In my case, I have changed the starter motor to new before ..but, the problem still persist..problem still there...so, I suspect..there is something else..
Asking around, I realize that there is not enough current to starter motor to crank the engine..problem are rarely happen, but quite annoying and too much for me.
Figure 1: Proton LMST engine layout (Location of starter motor are just behind engine between transmission) |
The solution is to add relay between starter motor and key circuit to direct the current from battery to starter.. The connection are shown below. Please follow at your own risk.
Cost of bosch relay with part number 0332019150 12V 30A is around RM15. Plus the connector and cable around RM8.
So, you will save a lot by doing it yourself..
Please follow below guide on how to do electrical wiring connection:
Figure 2 Connection for directly connect battery to starter through relay |
Figure 3: Electrical connection between Starter motor, battery and relay |
After add the relay to the starter motor, my car always crank and start the engine at first try. So, it really help.
Hope this will help others with the same problem, might also useful for other car model..
Thank you
Hi, how do we know whether the relay is working or not after fixing it? Any ways to check or tell?
ReplyDeleteHi, if relay is broken, I don't think fixing it really worth your time. you should just throw it and buy new one.
ReplyDeleteIn the case of my proton iswara, it might be just an old system which cause cranking problem. So, what I did was adding additional relay to connect directly from battery to starter. the connection should be as above
Hi bos..mohon bantuan..saga LMST sy lampu dasboard terutama bahagian meter dan lampu pada meter tidak menyala..signal juga tdk berfungsi. Apa ka yg perlu sy buat untuk membaiki semula.tq.
ReplyDeleteHi, do you have multimeter?it is best to start with fuse under the dashboard..
Deletekadang2..problem bermua dari fuse..if fuse are ok, then you need to troubleshoot the wiring and the connection from source.
Deleteboleh juga check relay..utk lighting system, dia ada kt bahagian depan engine sebelah tangki air utk wiper
DeleteBro, my saga lmst sometimes hard to start. Where to find the starter relay for saga lmst? Also how to check starter relay?
ReplyDeleteHi thrishaan, thanks for asking. there is no problem with current relay that control cranking our car engine. Its just that, as the car electrical system gets older, the system not able to direct enough current to crank the engine.
DeleteSo, common practice is to directly connect our starter motor to the battery (with adding additional relay in between as an interface). you can get from lazada or any other online retailer. very cheap. the connection as above figure
Ok. Thx bro .
Deleteyou are welcome..
DeleteHi Brian..it is confirm the wiring as shown in figure above? Your starter work with that wiring connection? Actually, I also having same problem, same model SAGA Lmst, same colour with your car..hehe..Firstly, i install the relay & wiring totaly refer to your figure , but not work. Then i try to google on other connection, found 30 for +ve battery, 87 for starter solenoid, 85 for signal form key and 86 for -ve (car body). I rewiring back, then OK.
ReplyDeleteHi thank you for comment.. mine work this way, but i will have a look. It might be due to different relay type or maybe car wiring has been tempered previously. I will check my car wiring later and update to you.
