Hi all, last month, one of my sister in-law complaint to me that she not able to control her fan speed. and fan become very slow in term of rotating speed.. So, the fan is no use as they not feel any blowing air from the fan.
First is to get the model detail:
brand: panasonic
model: f-my-143
5 blade fan
Figure 1: Outside cover of F-MY-143 panasonic fan |
remove the cover to get access to the internal board. this fan different than common fan which have separate regulator circuit on the wall.
This fan come with remote control, so, all the speed control circuit and motor circuit is on the same board.
Figure below shows the common circuit inside the panasonic remote control fan
Figure 2:electrical board in panasonic fan F-MY-143 |
Common part that always associated with the fan slowing down is the capacitors. figure show with arrow the suspected damage parts.
one, is 0.82uF 275V capacitor, another one is 0.1 uF 275V capacitor that usuaslly smaller in dimension compared to 0.82uF cap. These two capacitor can be order on the internet.
Figure 3: Capacitor replacement part |
In my case, purchased these two part and then replace my sister in-law capacitor fan with new caps thus help fix the problem. Her fan operate as new again. speed increase dramatically and these help her a lot and make her happy.
Instead of throwing it out, its better to check. of course it will take your time to troubleshoot and understand the problem. But, with this work, you can increase your knowledge and experience as well save a lot of money getting somebody fix it for you or replace with new fan.
anyway, thanks a lot, and hope this help

ReplyDeleteHi Brian, thank you very much for your advice with regards to the problem of my Panasonic ceiling fan (slow speed). I managed to change the capacitors and both my fans are working perfectly now. For those who live in PJ/Shah Alam, you can buy the capacitors in PJ from LKL Sunrise Electronic in Paramount Garden. Just google the address. Best of all, the shop can replace the capacitors for you on the stop @ RM8.00 for 2 pcs of capacitors and labour charge. Very reasonable. Richard

ReplyDeleteThanks for the info. Will try change it. Wonder if its the same part to b changed for noisy fan..u know?
ReplyDeleteHey, I have the same Panasonic ceiling fan as it was having extremely slow speed and the humming noise when it's turned on. Followed the step in this blog post and replaced both the capacitors. Speed went back to normal but the noise is still there. I guess other parts on the board is causing the noise.
DeleteThe motor is humming you need to replace the starter coil capacitor.I have done this before as I have 3 of this Panasonic fans since 2001.
DeleteIt is the 450wV or 500wV capacitor above the motor unit.Check it up.
If you keep on running for hours with the motor humming soon it may breakdown.
